In a transformer, the number of turns in the primary is 140 and that in the secondary is 280. If the current in the primary is 4 A, then the current in the secondary is: (Assume the transformer is ideal)

Solution

In an ideal transformer, current is inversely proportional to the number of turns. Since the secondary has twice the turns of the primary, the secondary current is half the primary current. Thus, \(I_s = 2\,\text{A}\).
