Power factor is maximum in an LCR circuit when

Solution

Power factor is \(\cos\phi\), which is maximum when \(\phi=0\). In an LCR circuit, this occurs at resonance when inductive and capacitive reactances are equal, i.e. \(X_L=X_C\).
