Two sets A and B satisfy n(A) = 150, n(B) = 250, and n(A union B) = 300. Find (n(B - A) - n(A - B)) / 100.

  1. 0
  2. 1
  3. 2
  4. 3

Correct answer: 1

Solution

n(B-A) - n(A-B) = [n(B) - n(A intersect B)] - [n(A) - n(A intersect B)] = n(B) - n(A) = 250 - 150 = 100. Therefore (n(B-A) - n(A-B))/100 = 100/100 = 1.
