Solve both equations and mark the appropriate answer: I. 16 = 300x + 4800 II. y^2 + y - 272 = 0
- x = y or relationship between x and y cannot be established
- x < y
- x b7 y
- x d7 y
Correct answer: x = y or relationship between x and y cannot be established
Solution
From 16 = 300x + 4800, x is a fixed negative value. The quadratic equation gives two possible values of y, one positive and one negative. Since y is not unique, a definite comparison with x cannot be established.
