The cost of 4 shirts and 3 trousers is ₹1700. If the price of a shirt is 37.5% more than the price of a trouser, what is the difference between the price of a shirt and a trouser?
- 87
- 65
- 75
- 88
Correct answer: 75
Solution
If trouser price is x, then shirt price is 37.5% more, i.e. 1.375x = 11x/8. Using 4 shirts + 3 trousers = 1700 gives 4(11x/8)+3x = 1700, so x = 200. Hence shirt = 275 and the difference is 75.
