A bronze article with a marked price of ₹1,000 is sold during a festive season sale after three successive discounts of 20%, 30%, and 10%. What amount (in ₹) will a customer pay if she buys the article during the festival season?
- ₹508
- ₹564
- ₹504
- ₹496
Correct answer: ₹504
Solution
For successive discounts, the selling price is found by multiplying the marked price by the remaining percentages after each discount. Here, the price becomes 1000 × 0.8 × 0.7 × 0.9 = 504. So the customer pays ₹504.
