Charge (q) = 0.2 C; Distance (d) = 2 m; Angle θ = 60° and work done (W) = 4 J. Work done in moving the charge (W) = F·d cos θ = qEd cos θ. Find the electric field (E).
- 20 N/C
- 15 N/C
- 10 N/C
- 5 N/C
Correct answer: 10 N/C
Solution
The formula for work done is W = qEd cos θ. Substituting the given values: 4 = 0.2 × E × 2 × cos 60°. Since cos 60° = 0.5, we get 4 = 0.2 × E × 2 × 0.5. Solving for E, E = 10 N/C.
