Equal charges are given to two spheres of different radii. The potential will
- Be more on the smaller sphere
- Be more on the bigger sphere
- Be equal on both the spheres
- Depend on the nature of the materials of the spheres
Correct answer: Be more on the smaller sphere
Solution
For an isolated conducting sphere, the potential is \(V = kQ/R\). If both spheres carry equal charge \(Q\), the one with smaller radius \(R\) will have a larger potential. Therefore, the potential is greater on the smaller sphere.
