Main objective of production/use of herbicide resistant GM crops is to reduce herbicide accumulation in food articles for health safety. Fields of herbicide-resistant crops can be sprayed with herbicide such as glyphosate, weeds are killed by the herbicide while the crop is unaffected. So this reduces the herbicide accumulation in food articles for health safety. GM plants has been useful in many ways.

  1. The PCR helps to detect the low amount of DNA by amplifying that piece of DNA to form many copies. The amplified DNA can be then easily detected by using other testing procedures. This technique is used to detect infection at the early stage by amplifying the DNA of microbe.
  2. The correct option is (d) because in Bt cotton the specific Bt toxin gene was isolated from Bacillus thuringiensis. The first clinical gene therapy was given in 1990 to a 4-year old girl with adenosine deaminase (ADA) deficiency. RNAi (RNA interference) takes place in all eukaryotic organisms as a method of cellular defense. PCR is now routinely used to detect HIV in suspected AIDS patients.
  3. Insulin molecules have a tendency to form dimers in solution due to hydrogen-bonding between the C-termini of B chains.
  4. Insulin molecules have a tendency to form dimers in solution due to hydrogen-bonding between the C-termini of B chains.

Correct answer: Insulin molecules have a tendency to form dimers in solution due to hydrogen-bonding between the C-termini of B chains.

Solution

Insulin can associate into dimers in solution because complementary interactions, especially hydrogen bonds involving the C-termini of the B chains, stabilize the pair. This is a correct biochemical property of insulin.
