A company produces electric bulbs, and 3% of them are faulty. If a sample of 100 bulbs is considered and the Poisson approximation is used, what is the probability that the sample contains exactly one defective bulb?

Solution
lambda = 100*0.03 = 3. P(X=1) = lambda e^(-lambda) = 3 e^(-3) approx 0.149, which is closest to 0.15.
