Two coils have a mutual inductance of 1.25 H. If the current in the primary coil changes at the rate of 80 A/s, find the magnitude of the EMF induced in the secondary coil.
- 12.5 V
- 64.0 V
- 0.016 V
- 100.0 V
Correct answer: 100.0 V
Solution
The EMF induced in the secondary due to mutual inductance is e = M*(dI/dt). With M = 1.25 H and dI/dt = 80 A/s: e = 1.25 * 80 = 100 V.
