ExamsIBPS POReasoning

Passage: Eight persons A, B, C, D, M, N, O, and P are sitting around a circular table but not necessarily in the same order. Five of them are facing the center and the rest are facing away from the center. Consecutive alphabetical persons are not sitting next to each other. O sits second to the right of B. C sits third to the right of O. Three persons sit between C and D. D sits second to the left of A. M is facing away from the center. P sits immediately to the right of N. P and A are facing opposite directions. Immediate neighbors of P are facing the same direction. The one who sits second to the left of P is facing away from the center. Question: Which of the following statements is/are true? I. A is sitting second to the right of D. II. N and P are immediate neighbors. III. Two persons are sitting between B and C when counted to the right of B.

  1. Both I and II
  2. Both II and III
  3. Only II
  4. Both I and III

Correct answer: Only II

Solution

The circular arrangement can be completed only by carefully accounting for the facing directions of each person. In the final arrangement, N and P are adjacent, so statement II is true. Statement I and III do not hold simultaneously with the valid arrangement, so only II is correct.
