ExamsIBPS POReasoning

Direction: In the following question, three statements are given. You have to find out in which statement(s) the data is sufficient to answer the question and mark your answer accordingly. There are five points A, B, C, D and E. What is the position of A with respect to D? I. A is to the north of B, which is to the west of C. II. D is to the south of C. III. E is to the east of D.

  1. All the statements are required.
  2. Only I and II together are sufficient.
  3. Only II and III together are sufficient.
  4. Only I and III together are sufficient.

Correct answer: Only I and II together are sufficient.

Solution

Statement I alone gives A relative to B and C, but not to D. Statement II alone gives D relative to C, but not A. Together, I and II place both A and D with respect to C, so the position of A with respect to D can be determined.
