If \(P + Q = 7\) and \(P^2 + Q^2 = 25\), then find the value of 50% of \((P \times Q)\).

Correct answer: 6

Solution

From \((P+Q)^2 = P^2 + Q^2 + 2PQ\), we get \(49 = 25 + 2PQ\). So \(2PQ = 24\), hence \(PQ = 12\). Fifty percent of \(PQ\) is \(6\).
