ExamsIBPS POQuantitative Aptitude

The average of eight numbers is 40, and the average of the first two numbers is 25. If the average of the last four numbers is 40, then find the sum of the third and fourth numbers.

  1. 120
  2. 110
  3. 100
  4. 90

Correct answer: 110

Solution

The sum of all 8 numbers is $8\times 40=320$. The sum of the first 2 numbers is $2\times 25=50$, and the sum of the last 4 numbers is $4\times 40=160$. So the sum of the third and fourth numbers is $320-50-160=110$.
