An alloy of copper and aluminium has 40% copper. Another alloy of copper and zinc has copper and zinc in the ratio 2:7. These two alloys are mixed in the ratio 5:3. By what percent is the quantity of aluminium more or less than the quantity of copper in the final alloy?

Solution
In the first alloy, copper is 40% and aluminium is 60%. In the second alloy, copper is 2/9 and zinc is 7/9. After mixing in the ratio 5:3, the final aluminium amount is greater than copper by 12.5%.
