A man spends 20% of his income on rent and 25% of the remaining amount on clothes, and the remaining income is invested in FD and RD in the ratio 1:4, respectively. If the difference between the amount invested in FD and the amount spent on clothes is ₹1680, then find the man's income (in ₹).

Solution
After rent, 80% of income remains. Clothes take 25% of that, i.e. 20% of income. The remaining 60% is split in the ratio 1:4, so FD = 12% of income. The difference between clothes and FD is 8% of income = 1680, giving income = 21000.
