Monthly income of P is ₹11,000 more than that of Q. P and Q spent 15% and 10% of their respective monthly incomes on rent, while each spent 10% of his respective monthly income on household items. If the remaining amount they saved and P's saving is ₹7,000 more than Q's, then find the monthly income of Q (in ₹).
- 15000
- 36000
- 25000
- 24000
Correct answer: 25000
Solution
P spends 25% of income, so saves 75%; Q spends 20%, so saves 80%. Let Q’s income be x, then P’s income is x + 11000. Given P saves ₹7000 more than Q, 0.75(x+11000) = 0.80x + 7000. Solving gives x = 25000.
