A circular object of radius r rolls without slipping on a horizontal floor with its center moving at velocity V. The velocity at the point of contact between the object and the floor is

Correct answer: zero
Solution
In pure rolling without slipping, the translational velocity of the center and the rotational velocity about the center are equal in magnitude at the contact point and opposite in direction. Hence, the contact point has zero velocity relative to the floor.
