For submitting tax returns, all resident males with annual income below Rs. 10 lakh should fill Form P, and all resident females with annual income below Rs. 8 lakh should fill Form P. All people with incomes above Rs. 10 lakh should fill Form R, except non-residents with income above Rs. 15 lakh, who should fill Form S. All others should fill Form T. An example of a person who should fill Form T is
- a resident male with annual income Rs. 9 lakh
- a resident female with annual income Rs. 9 lakh
- a non-resident male with annual income Rs. 16 lakh
- a non-resident female with annual income Rs. 16 lakh
Correct answer: a resident female with annual income Rs. 9 lakh
Solution
Resident females with income below Rs. 8 lakh use Form P, and incomes above Rs. 10 lakh generally use Form R, with a special case for certain non-residents above Rs. 15 lakh. A resident female with income Rs. 9 lakh falls into none of these special categories, so she should fill Form T.
