The average of three numbers is 135. The largest number is 195 and the difference between the other two is 20. The smallest number is:

  1. 65
  2. 105
  3. 95
  4. 115

Correct answer: 95

Solution

The sum of the three numbers is 3 × 135 = 405. Removing the largest number 195 leaves 210 for the other two numbers. If their difference is 20, the smaller one is (210 - 20)/2 = 95.
