A chord divides a circle into two arcs. The angle subtended by the major arc at the circumference is 110°. What is the central angle subtended by the major arc?
- 55°
- 110°
- 220°
- 270°
Correct answer: 220°
Solution
For the same arc, the angle subtended at the centre is twice the angle subtended at the circumference. Since the angle at the circumference is 110°, the central angle is \(2\times110°=220°\).
