Given that p : q = 4 : 5 and q : r = 3 : 10, what is the ratio p : r?

Correct answer: 6 : 25

Solution

p/q = 4/5 and q/r = 3/10. So p/r = (4/5) x (3/10) = 12/50 = 6/25. Therefore p : r = 6 : 25.
