A decade ago, Meena's age was three times her daughter Rina's age. A decade from now, Meena's age will be double Rina's age. What is the ratio of their current ages?

Solution

From M-10 = 3(R-10), we get M = 3R-20. Substituting into M+10 = 2(R+10): 3R-20+10 = 2R+20, giving R=30 and M=70. Ratio M:R = 70:30 = 7:3.
