Rahul's initial monthly expenditure and savings were in the ratio 5 : 3. His monthly income then rose by 25%. If his initial savings were Rs. 4,500, what is his new monthly income after the increment?
- 16000
- 15000
- 9375
- 12000
Correct answer: 15000
Solution
Ratio expenditure:savings = 5:3. Initial savings = 4500, so initial expenditure = (5/3) x 4500 = 7500. Initial income = 7500 + 4500 = 12000. After 25% increase: new income = 12000 x 1.25 = 15000.
