The efficiencies of A, B and C are in the ratio 2 : 3 : 5. A alone finishes the work in 40 days. All three work together for 5 days, after which C leaves. In how many days will A and B finish the remaining work?
- 12 days
- 10 days
- 8 days
- 6 days
Correct answer: 6 days
Solution
Let A, B, C do 2, 3, 5 units/day. A finishing in 40 days means total work = 2 x 40 = 80 units. In 5 days together they do 10 x 5 = 50 units, leaving 30. A and B together do 5 units/day, so they need 30/5 = 6 days.
