If 30% of (A + B) equals 60% of (A - B), what is the ratio A : B?

Solution

From 30%(A+B) = 60%(A-B) we get A+B = 2(A-B), so A+B = 2A-2B, giving 3B = A. Hence A : B = 3 : 1.
