Rajesh starts a business investing Rs 1,00,000. Four months later Suresh joins with Rs 1,20,000. After a further four months Rajesh withdraws Rs 40,000. At the end of one year, in what ratio should their profits be divided?

1. 11 : 12
2. 13 : 12
3. 13 : 14
4. 14 : 15

Correct answer: 13 : 12

Solution

Rajesh's money-months = 100000x8 + 60000x4 = 800000 + 240000 = 1040000. Suresh's = 120000x8 = 960000. The ratio 1040000 : 960000 simplifies to 13 : 12.
