A circular park has a radius of 10 m and is surrounded by a path 2 m wide running all around it. What is the area of the path?
- 131.1 m^2
- 138.2 m^2
- 144.5 m^2
- 150.7 m^2
Correct answer: 138.2 m^2
Solution
The outer circle has radius 12 m and the inner 10 m. Area of the path = pi(12^2 - 10^2) = pi(44) is about 138.2 m^2.
