A seller blends two varieties of tea, one priced at Rs 150 per kg and the other at Rs 200 per kg, in the ratio 2 : 3. If he sells the blend at Rs 180 per kg, what is his percentage gain or loss?

Correct answer: No loss, no gain

Solution

The cost price of the mixture is (2x150 + 3x200)/5 = (300 + 600)/5 = 180 per kg, which equals the selling price. So there is neither gain nor loss.
