Two circular tracks have circumferences in the ratio 2 : 7. If the smaller track's radius is 8 m, what is the radius of the larger track?

Solution

Since circumference = 2(pi)r, the radii are in the same 2 : 7 ratio as the circumferences. With the smaller radius 8 m as the '2' part, one part = 4 m, so the larger radius is 7 x 4 = 28 m.
