An inner solid metal sphere is enclosed by a concentric outer metallic shell. The inner sphere is at a potential of 10 V and the outer shell is at 5 V. What is the electric potential at the common centre?

Correct answer: 10 volt

Solution

The interior of a conductor is an equipotential volume, so every point inside the inner solid sphere (including the centre) is at the same potential as the sphere itself, which is 10 V.
