Solution
At constant pressure, number density n = P/(kT) ~ 1/T, so the mean free path lambda ~ 1/n ~ T. Mean speed ~ sqrt(T), hence mean time between collisions tau = lambda/v ~ T/sqrt(T) = sqrt(T).
