Quantity I: In an 80 L mixture, the ratio of milk to water is 7:1. If 30% of the mixture is removed, find the quantity of water left. Quantity II: 7 L Compare Quantity I and Quantity II.

Correct answer: Quantity I = Quantity II or no relation

Solution

In 80 L, water = \(\tfrac{1}{8}\times 80 = 10\) L. Removing 30% of the mixture removes 30% of the water as well, so water left = 70% of 10 = 7 L. Therefore Quantity I equals Quantity II.
