Q1. There are three cities: Delhi, Dhaka, and Bangkok. The total distance between Delhi-Dhaka, Dhaka-Bangkok, and Delhi-Bangkok is 19,800 km. The distance between Dhaka-Bangkok is 80% of the distance between Delhi-Bangkok, and the ratio of the distance between Delhi-Dhaka to the distance between Bangkok-Dhaka is 27:32. Fares of three different flight operators (A, B, and C) on these three routes are given below: Delhi-Dhaka: Fare of C is 25% more than that of B, and fare of A is Rs. 2700 less than that of B. The ratio of fare of A to that of C is 3:5. Delhi-Bangkok: Average fare of A and B is Rs. 20,000, and fare of C is Rs. 8000 more than the average fare of A and B. Average fare of B and C is Rs. 26,000. Dhaka-Bangkok: Fare of B is Rs. 16,000 and the ratio of fare of A to B to C is 6:5:8. Question: If Veer wants to travel from Delhi-Dhaka and then Dhaka-Bangkok without changing flight operator, which flight operator would be the cheapest option among A, B, and C for Veer?
- A
- B
- C
- Either A or B
Answer: A
For the Delhi-Dhaka route, the given relations determine the fares of A, B, and C. For the Dhaka-Bangkok route, the ratio 6:5:8 with B = 16000 gives all three fares. Adding the two-route fares for each operator shows that operator A has the lowest total cost.
