ExamsIBPS POGeneral Awareness

₹1500 is invested in Scheme A at R% p.a. simple interest. Another amount, ₹(1500 - x), is invested in Scheme B at 2R% p.a. simple interest. After 4 years, the interest earned from Scheme A is 25% less than that of Scheme B. Find x.

  1. 500
  2. 600
  3. 900
  4. 1000

Correct answer: 500

Solution

For simple interest, interest is proportional to principal × rate × time. So interest from A is proportional to 1500·R·4 and from B to (1500−x)·2R·4. Given A is 25% less than B, A = 0.75B, which gives x = 500.
