A spends 25% of his monthly income on groceries and 20% of the remaining amount on rent. The remaining amount is spent on EMI, clothes, and savings in the ratio 1:3:6, respectively. If the difference between the amount spent on rent and clothes is ₹570, find A's monthly income.
- 14000
- 12000
- 19000
- 15000
Correct answer: 19000
Solution
Let monthly income be x. After groceries, 75% remains; rent is 20% of that, so rent = 15% of x and remaining = 60% of x. This remaining is divided in the ratio 1:3:6, so clothes = 3/10 of 60% of x = 18% of x. Given clothes − rent = 570, we get 18%x − 15% x = 3% x = 570, so x = 19000.
