Of the three numbers, the first is 4 times the second and 3 times the third. If the average of all three numbers is 95, what is the third number?

Solution

Let the third number be \(x\). Then the first number is \(3x\) and the second is \(\frac{3x}{4}\). Their average is 95, so \(\frac{3x+\frac{3x}{4}+x}{3}=95\), which gives \(x=60\).
