If Ram purchases one fan, he gets an 8% discount. However, if he purchases three fans, he gets 6% off on the first, 10% off on the second, and 12% off on the third. If the price paid by Ram for three fans is ₹6,800, then what is the marked price of each fan?
- ₹2,400
- ₹2,500
- ₹2,450
- ₹2,550
Correct answer: ₹2,500
Solution
Let the marked price of each fan be \(x\). Then the prices paid are \(94\%\), \(90\%\), and \(88\%\) of \(x\) respectively. So total payment is \((0.94+0.90+0.88)x=2.72x=6800\), giving \(x=2500\).
