SSC CGL (Prelims) General: Seating Arrangement / Floor Arrangement questions with solutions

Q1. Seven persons P, Q, R, S, T, U and V live on seven different floors numbered 1 to 7. P is not on the top floor. Q lives immediately above R. S lives on the third floor. Three persons live between S and V. R lives on the first floor. T lives above U. Two persons live between T and S. Who lives immediately above P?

Answer: U

R is on the 1st floor, so Q is on the 2nd floor. S is on the 3rd floor, and with two persons between T and S, T must be on the 6th floor. Since three persons are between S and V, V must be on the 7th floor, leaving P and U on the 4th and 5th floors. Because T is above U, U is on the 5th floor and P on the 4th, so U is immediately above P.
