If \(a:b = 3:4\), then what is \((3a + 2b):(2a + b)\)?

Solution

Let \(a=3k\) and \(b=4k\). Then \(3a+2b = 9k+8k = 17k\) and \(2a+b = 6k+4k = 10k\). So the ratio is \(17:10\).
