All of the following number pairs follow the same mathematical rule except one. Find the odd pair. (Operations must be performed on the whole number only; digits must not be split.)
- 15 : 48
- 12 : 39
- 13 : 42
- 11 : 35
Correct answer: 11 : 35
Solution
For 15: 15x3+3=48; for 12: 12x3+3=39; for 13: 13x3+3=42 — all correct. For 11: 11x3+3=36, not 35. So '11:35' breaks the pattern.
