In a transformer, the number of turns in the primary coil and secondary coil are 5 and 4 respectively. If 240 V is applied to the primary coil, then the ratio of current in the primary and secondary coils is

Solution

For an ideal transformer, current is inversely proportional to the number of turns. Since N_p:N_s = 5:4 , the current ratio I_p:I_s = 4:5 .
