A particle P moves counter-clockwise on a circle of radius 20 m, covering arc length s = t² + 5 (s in metres, t in seconds). Find the magnitude of its total acceleration at t = 5*sqrt(3/10) seconds.

Solution

Here aₜ = 2 m/s² and at the given time v²/r = 1.5 m/s², so total acceleration = sqrt(2² + 1.5²) = 2.5 m/s².
