For x > 0, arrange 3^x, 5^x, 2^x and 4^x in decreasing order.
- 3^x > 5^x > 2^x > 4^x
- 5^x > 4^x > 3^x > 2^x
- 2^x > 3^x > 4^x > 5^x
- 2^x > 5^x > 4^x > 3^x
Correct answer: 5^x > 4^x > 3^x > 2^x
Solution
When x > 0, b^x is an increasing function of b, so order the bases 5 > 4 > 3 > 2.
