From a point on the circle x² + y² = 50, two tangents are drawn to the circle x² + y² = 25. What is the angle between these two tangents?

1. 90 deg

Correct answer: 90 deg

Solution

With d = sqrt(50) and r = 5, sin(theta) = 5/sqrt(50) = 1/sqrt(2), so theta = 45 deg and the angle between the tangents is 90 deg.
