Find the exact value of sqrt(8 + sqrt(60)) + sqrt(8 - sqrt(60)).
- 2*sqrt(3)
- 16
- 2*sqrt(5)
Correct answer: 2*sqrt(5)
Solution
S² = (8+sqrt(60)) + 2*sqrt(64-60) + (8-sqrt(60)) = 16 + 2*sqrt(4) = 16 + 4 = 20, so S = sqrt(20) = 2*sqrt(5).
