You have four resistors of 2 ohm, 4 ohm, 6 ohm and 8 ohm. How must they be combined to give a net resistance of 46/3 ohm?

Solution

Putting 2 ohm and 4 ohm in parallel gives 4/3 ohm, and adding 6 ohm and 8 ohm in series gives 14 + 4/3 = 46/3 ohm.
