A technician has only two resistors. Using them singly, in series, or in parallel, he can obtain resistances of 3, 4, 12 and 16 ohm. What are the resistances of the two resistors?
- 6 ohm and 10 ohm
- 4 ohm and 12 ohm
- 9 ohm and 9 ohm
- 5 ohm and 12 ohm
Correct answer: 4 ohm and 12 ohm
Solution
With R1 = 4 and R2 = 12: singly 4 and 12, series 4+12 = 16, parallel (4*12)/16 = 3. All four values 3, 4, 12, 16 are reproduced.
