A horizontal syringe filled with water is held at a height of 1.25 m above the ground. The plunger has diameter 8 mm and the nozzle has diameter 2 mm. The plunger is pushed at a constant speed of 0.25 m/s. Assuming the nozzle is horizontal, find the horizontal range of the water stream when it strikes the ground. Take g = 10 m/s².

Solution
Water exits the nozzle horizontally at 4 m/s from height 1.25 m. Time to hit the ground: t = sqrt(2h/g) = sqrt(0.25) = 0.5 s. Horizontal range = v2 * t = 4 * 0.5 = 2.0 m.
